BPC’s new Board Members participated in an insightful induction programme, touring Morupule A & B Power Stations, and the 100 MW Solar PV Plant in Mmadinare. The excursion offered an immersive appreciation of our diverse energy portfolio, from coal-fired baseload to renewable innovation, equipping them to deliver strategic leadership, oversight, and governance as we advance Botswana’s sustainable energy security.
BPC hosted its annual Elderly Wellness Day in Mmashoro Village. An initiative dedicated to giving back to the elders in the communities we serve. This year’s theme, “Gola ka botsogo jo bo itekanetseng o tle o tsele lobaka,” reminded us of the importance of living well to live long.
The event provided blood sugar and blood pressure screenings, shared essential health and welfare information, and engaged elders through discussions on safety and energy efficiency.

Aligned with the event theme, “Promote Inclusive and Shock Responsive Child Welfare Services through Sustainable Citizen Participation and Stakeholder Collaboration,” BPC remains committed to advancing education as a cornerstone of child welfare. By fostering partnerships and engaging with communities, BPC contributes to creating an inclusive environment where children have the opportunity to succeed. As part of its commitment to community upliftment under the People First value of the MADUO Strategy, Botswana Power Corporation has supported a young beneficiary in Radisele through Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
Lenah Phemelo from Mmapetwana Ward, was recommended by the area social worker for an income-generating initiative. BPC equipped Lenah with a fully established poultry farm; a poultry house, and initial livestock. The project was handed over November 2025, marking a new beginning for her journey toward self-reliance.

BPC, in partnership with the Botswana Police Service and several organizations – including BTC, LSC Security, Security Systems, Gaborone City Council, Mascom, and Orange Botswana – recently carried out a successful Motshelo Joint Operation. Coordinated by SSKA Police Station and Mmopane Police Post, the initiative aimed to strengthen collaboration in combating vandalism, theft, and related crimes affecting communities and infrastructure.
The operation mobilized 90 officers from multiple police stations and targeted areas such as Gaborone North, Mmamashia, Mmopane, Ledumadumane, and local scrap metal dealerships. Supported by the Special Support Group’s dog and horse units, teams conducted foot and mobile patrols, vehicle stops, and searches. The increased law enforcement presence acted as a strong deterrent, leading to the questioning of several individuals linked to vandalism and copper theft.The exercise underscored the effectiveness of multi-stakeholder cooperation in maintaining public safety and protecting national assets.
The BPC Maduo Riders Cycling Team recently came together for an energetic and impactful Clean-Up Ride that combined fitness, teamwork, and community service. The activity began at East Zone NCC with a refreshing run-ride session, after which the team proceeded with a community clean-up from Wagga Gardens back to NCC.
Armed with bikes, running shoes, and a strong sense of responsibility, team members worked together to help create a cleaner and healthier environment. The spirit of unity and enthusiasm displayed throughout the activity made the initiative both meaningful and memorable.

Botswana Power Corporation proudly completed its first ISO Certification Audit – Stage 1 for ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management).Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) successfully underwent its first ISO Certification Audit (Stage 1) for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, held from 06 – 10 October 2025.
The audit was conducted by TÜV SÜD South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a globally recognized certification body, and comprised a team of experienced auditors focusing on ISO 14001:2015 and on ISO 45001:2018 respectively. The Stage 1 audit aimed to evaluate BPC’s readiness for certification by assessing the adequacy, implementation, and alignment of its management system documentation with the requirements of the two ISO standards.The auditors reviewed corporate and operational processes across selected regions, focusing on leadership commitment, risk management, legal compliance, environmental and safety performance monitoring, and the integration of management systems across BPC’s operations.
The engagement marked a significant milestone in BPC’s journey towards internationally recognized standards of environmental stewardship and occupational health and safety excellence. The audit also provided valuable insights and opportunities for improvement as the Corporation prepares for Stage 2 Certification Audit, which will focus on the implementation and effectiveness of the systems.
BPC’s pursuit of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification reflects its continued commitment to sustainable operations, employee wellbeing, and regulatory compliance, in alignment with its strategic objective to drive operational excellence and corporate sustainability. We are looking forward to continued collaboration as BPC advances toward full ISO Certification.
The Corporation proudly participated in the Police Commissioner’s Run held in Francistown recently, standing alongside key stakeholders to advocate against Gender-Based Violence, Crime, and Unsafe Road Practices.
The event was officially led by the Chief Walker, His Excellency Duma Boko, President of Botswana, and brought together diverse voices united by a shared commitment to building safer, more inclusive communities. Through initiatives like these, BPC continues to power progress beyond the grid, energizing movements that protect and uplift the people of Botswana.
