BPC UNDERTAKES FIRST ISO CERTIFICATION AUDIT – STAGE 1 FOR ISO 14001:2015 AND ISO 45001:2018

Botswana Power Corporation proudly completed its first ISO Certification Audit – Stage 1 for ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management).Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) successfully underwent its first ISO Certification Audit (Stage 1) for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, held from 06 – 10 October 2025.

The audit was conducted by TÜV SÜD South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a globally recognized certification body, and comprised a team of experienced auditors focusing on ISO 14001:2015 and on ISO 45001:2018 respectively. The Stage 1 audit aimed to evaluate BPC’s readiness for certification by assessing the adequacy, implementation, and alignment of its management system documentation with the requirements of the two ISO standards.The auditors reviewed corporate and operational processes across selected regions, focusing on leadership commitment, risk management, legal compliance, environmental and safety performance monitoring, and the integration of management systems across BPC’s operations.

The engagement marked a significant milestone in BPC’s journey towards internationally recognized standards of environmental stewardship and occupational health and safety excellence. The audit also provided valuable insights and opportunities for improvement as the Corporation prepares for Stage 2 Certification Audit, which will focus on the implementation and effectiveness of the systems.

BPC’s pursuit of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification reflects its continued commitment to sustainable operations, employee wellbeing, and regulatory compliance, in alignment with its strategic objective to drive operational excellence and corporate sustainability.
