BPC SUPPORTS NATIONAL EFFORTS TO COMBAT FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

Botswana Power Corporation continues to play a meaningful role in supporting national priorities through its contribution to the Government of Botswana’s Operation Thibelo – Foot and Mouth Disease Disaster Initiative, led by the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture.
As part of this initiative, BPC has donated used gum poles valued at P625,000.00. This contribution is aimed at supporting the protection of Botswana’s livestock industry, an essential pillar of the country’s economy and food security.
The donated gum poles will be utilised in the maintenance and reinforcement of border and veterinary fences. These fences are critical in containing and preventing the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease, thereby protecting livestock and supporting the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
This initiative reflects BPC’s broader commitment beyond its core mandate of electricity provision. It demonstrates the Corporation’s dedication to safeguarding livelihoods, supporting government- led interventions, and contributing to the long-term sustainability and resilience of Botswana’s economy.
BPC employees are encouraged to take pride in the organisation’s continued efforts to make a positive impact across communities and sectors nationwide.
