BPC INDUCTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS THROUGH STRATEGIC SITE VISITS

Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) recently hosted an induction programme for its newly appointed Board Members, giving them an opportunity to gain first- hand insight into the Corporation’s operations and strategic assets. The tour began at the Gaborone National Control Centre, where the Board was introduced to national grid operations, system control processes, and the role the centre plays in maintaining a stable and reliable power supply.
Board Members then visited Morupule A and B Power Stations, where they were briefed on generation processes, maintenance activities, and ongoing efforts to improve plant performance and safety. The induction also included a visit to the Mmadinare Solar Plant, highlighting BPC’s growing renewable energy portfolio and the role of solar power in supporting sustainable energy solutions. The programme concluded at the Phokoje Substation, where the Board gained an appreciation of transmission operations and the importance of strong network infrastructure in supporting electricity delivery across the country.
The induction provided valuable engagement between the Board and management, ensuring a shared understanding of BPC’s operations, challenges, and strategic priorities as the Corporation continues to power Botswana’s development.
