As it is mandatory, the Corporation has made its contribution at the 43rd Southern African Power Pool Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting represented by the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stefan Schwarzfischer in Lilongwe – Malawi today.
At the meeting, EXCO members share experiences in relation to their operations within the energy sector given the different political, socio-economic environs they operate under. Amongst the activities, EXCO members will sign the revised SAPP Coordination Centre Constitution and the SAPP Market Rules. The directives from Energy Ministers' Meetings are being delivered to the SAPP EXCO meeting and these include;
- Relocation of SAPP Pan African Union from Johannesburg – South Africa to Harare – Zimbabwe;
- Duration of Surplus Power in the Region and
- How to address inadequacy of Transmission Capacity within the SAPP power pool market.
The conclusion of the 43rd SAPP EXCO meeting will result in compilation of common issues that will be presented to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministers for their consideration at their respective countries.
