Matshelagabedi 70MW Diesel Power Plant is wholly owned by Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) and serves as an emergency backup Power Plant. BPC engaged or contracted three sub-contractors being; Pacific Asia Pty Ltd (PIC), United Power Limited (UPL) and Mmantshetsa Holdings Pty Ltd for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the power plant. The three contractors through their SHE representatives recently donated sanitary pads to Matsiloje JSS, as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative.
This idea was influenced by the concern of lack of sanitary pads by boarding school girls across the country hence the SHE representatives decided to go out and assist. The exercise would not had been successful had it not been the love and appreciation shown by the Francistown community and some stakeholders as they extended their hand of love towards this initiative by donation of sanitary pads.
As the scripture in the good says “ Blessed is the hand that giveth”, the employees of the power plant where also not left behind as they fully put their weight towards this exercise by coming forward with donations and assisting where necessary.
