The Customer Service and Supply Unit is one of the Corporation’s Strategic Business Units, is ringfenced, has its own business plan, has management and staff specifically dedicated to the operations of the Business Unit and has its own internal governance and reporting structures. It has its own set of performance targets and financial reports. Its performance impacts significantly on the corporation’s performance as it represents a substantial part of the overall BPC value chain. It also interfaces with most of BPC customer base on behalf of the Corporation.
The principal purpose of the Customer Service and Supply Business Unit is to create and operate distribution network assets in order to effectively sell electricity to customers.
The Customer Service and Supply Business Unit purchases bulk supply electricity from the Transmission Business Unit and through cross border connections from neighbouring countries, distributes and sells electricity to its customers.
In order to carry out the work cost effectively and efficiently, the Customer Service and Supply Business Unit must operate and maintain the distribution network assets and serve the customers in such a way to ensure customer satisfaction. During this process the Customer Service and Supply Business Unit must operate within BPC Policies and Standards as set by the Management Board, develop the Customer Service and Supply Business Unit Business plan, and execute the plan making use of regional best practises.

Orapa 90MW Turbine plant was officially launched on Thursday 13th October 2011 and was handed over to Botswana Power Corporation by Debswana Manging Director Jim Gowans.
