Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) has embarked on a strategic journey in its pursuit to become a competitive commercial power utility within the region that is responsive and customer focused. To achieve this goal, a number of strategic Business Units have been established, and the placement of key professionals to drive this mandate is critical.

  1. Project Engineer (Transmission) – 3 Years Fixed Term Contract 

Botswana Power Corporation has embarked on extensive transmission grid extension and network reinforcement projects in order to improve the reliability and security of power supply. Projects in the implementation plan include amongst others the North West Transmission Grid Connection project (NWTGC) which aims to extend the grid to the North West, Chobe and Gantsi districts. This is a very critical project which needs to be delivered at the earliest to alleviate supply constraints in the project areas and unlock the economic potential of the country.

To achieve this goal, BPC requires dynamic, result-oriented and customer focused individuals who believe they can stand up to these immense challenges to apply for the following projects engineer posts;

Main Purpose Of The Job
To administer and coordinate the implementation of the major civil engineering/building works, high voltage transmission lines and substations projects required by the Corporation to ensure its sustainable operation.


Position Requirements

Qualifications:       

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  •  A professional qualification is preferred


Experience:     

Five (5) years post qualification experience in the electricity supply Industry of which two (2) years should preferably be in the Transmission line and substation construction fields.

2. Re - advert SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR – INFRASTRUCTURE (TENABLE IN GABORONE) (COS SBU)


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To ensure the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of various technologies managing the back-end systems that run the infrastructure to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in accordance with BPC standards. To provide 3rd level deep technical assistance through the service desk for issues relating to infrastructure systems which include Active Directory, MS Exchange and System Center.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Relevant industry certification in IT (MCSE, MSCA, etc)
  • Membership of BIE or equivalent desirable

Experience:     

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a computer environment.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience systems/network experience
  • Solid experience with Windows Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory. Strong background in Exchange 2000/2003 or higher messaging system.
  • Experience monitoring and managing an infrastructure environment using Systems Management tools preferably Systems Centre or SMS/MOM
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers & switches, Internet firewalls, and wireless technology.
  • Basic Windows scripting skills
  • Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies

3. ACCOUNTS OFFICER TENABLE IN GABORONE (CHR SBU)
 
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To accurately process, enter and reconcile accounting documents and maintain accounts strictly in accordance with laid down accounting procedures and standards to facilitate the timely delivery of financial reports.
 
Qualifications:
  • AAT – Direct entry Or Diploma in Accounting and Business Studies
Experience:
  • Two (2) years post qualification experience in a computerised accounting environment
Competencies:
  • Interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Procedural awareness and understanding

4. EFFICIENCY TECHNICIAN   TENABLE IN MORUPULE (GEN SBU)
 
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To carry out efficiency tests and assessments of the plant performance and record statistics to facilitate preparation of accurate recommendations to optimize the performance of the plant.
 
Qualifications:
  • Recognised Ordinary Technician Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Experience:
  • At least three (3) years post qualification experience in power plant operation.

5. HUMAN RESOURCE TENABLE IN MORUPULE (GEN SBU)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide Human Resource Management support and execute Human Resource procedures, standards, programs and advice to enhance operational efficiency.
 
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management from a recognized University 

or

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources Management from a recognized University
 Experience:
  • Direct entry with a germane degree

or

  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant post qualification experience with a diploma

  6.  GRAPHIC DESIGNER TENABLE IN GABORONE (COS SBU)
 
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To assemble together images, typography, or motion graphics to create a piece of design.  Creates the graphics primarily for published, printed or electronic media, such as brochures (sometimes) and advertising. Combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of web screens and printed pages.
 
Qualifications:
  • Recognized Degree in Graphic Design
 Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant post –graduate experience in Graphic Design environment
  • Experience in Photography will be an added advantage
